The South by Southwest – SXSW, if you prefer – is getting closer and closer. The event happens from 9 to 18 of March in Austin, Texas. As always, well-known and important personalities will be in the conference, as were Barack Obama and Mark Zuckerberg in previous editions. During the event, there will be conferences and festivals on different topics, like movies, music and technology.

Established singers and music bands, like The Foo Fighters and The Strokes have also presented at the festival. And as for the lectures, the event’s majesty is proven by the fact that 50 of them happens at the same time.

Here are three personalities that will speak at SXSW 2018:

Main speaker

Melinda Gates

The philanthropist Melinda Gates was recently announced as keynote speaker at SXSW. She has devoted her life to help underprivileged communities with financial and related to health matters. Allied to this, she also encourages women and girls to realize and develop their potential. As co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which is driven by the vision that all lives have equal values, she manages strategies, results and leads the largest private foundation in the world.

She is confirmed as keynote speaker, but besides her, there are also great ones confirmed in the SXSW as guest speakers.

Guest speakers

 Michael Dell

The founder and CEO of Dell will also speak at the SXSW. Michael Dell’s company was created in Austin, city that hosts the event. He started the company at the age of 19 and, since then, Dell is a reference in innovation and cutting-edge technology, providing infrastructure for companies to improve digital and technological areas, as well as to protect important data. Furthermore, the entrepreneur is also founder and director of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, a private family foundation that provides financial conditions for the construction of the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas, in Austin.

Peter Thiel

Another personality with confirmed presence at SXSW is Peter Thiel, an American entrepreneur and businessman. He founded PayPal in 1998, led the company as CEO and became it public in 2002, starting a new era of safe and fast online shopping. In 2004, he launched the Palantir Technologies: a software and computer services company providing services to the US government.

A nice tip for who likes TV series: news from HBO will also be presented at SXSW. But calm down because not only of Game of Thrones live HBO. This year, the panel will have the Series’ directors Westworld, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, since it talks about one of the most commented subjects in the world — and at the event: artificial intelligence. It’s worth saying that Westworld’s second season launches sometime this year.
